Be Prepared for Marketing. The Thief of Fulfillment.

For most businesses, making a sale is all important. However, despite the amount of effort and attention given to getting sales, there is often no attention given to developing and effectively implementing a systematic marketing process. There are many things that can go wrong between the point of the customer first developing an interest in your product or service and the time of making the sale. Despite knowing this, very few businesses actually take proactive steps to nurture the progress of a sale. In sales and marketing, as in life, preparation makes a world of difference.

Be Prepared to Initiate

In many businesses there is no real attempt to initiate action towards a sale. Many sit and wait for customers to come in or for the phone to ring. They hope the customer will initiate the action. This is OK when things are busy, but what happens when trade slows down? Often the first thought is that we had better do some advertising. Unfortunately, random, unfocused, one off type advertising rarely achieves good results.

You need to know what initiates action from your customers and then consistently and regularly set that process in motion. This takes a degree of preparation and planning, by analysing customer needs, preparation of a targeted marketing message and delivery through the right media to attract the appropriate amount of attention from the right customers.

Be Prepared to Measure

Is there anything worse when not making enough sales than to spend money on advertising that doesn't work? The trouble is, many people don't actually know whether their advertising is working or not. They don't take the time and effort to monitor and measure the response to advertising. Every time a new customer makes an enquiry or purchase, you should be asking why they came to you. Then note and keep track of the answers. If you can't tell what advertising works and what doesn't, you will end up wasting a lot of money. When you spend money on advertising, be prepared to monitor and measure the results. No one really knows what will work and what won't. You need to measure results and fine tune your advertising so that you do more of what works and less of what doesn't.

Be Prepared to Respond

Even worse than doing advertising that doesn't work is to be unprepared to deal with the enquiries that do come in. Nothing kills off sales quicker than not giving customers what they expect. You need to be prepared with follow up marketing materials, stock to sell and people who are trained to deal with the enquiries. Sales staff need to be trained and prepared to be customer focused. They should be able to lead the customer in a helpful manner towards making a decision in such a way that no pressure is ever exerted by the sales person or felt by the customer. My experience is that very few sales people ever achieve this level of expertise. How about yours? How much training do you give them?

Be Prepared to Help

Customers hate to be sold, but love having their needs met. In these days where customers are much better informed, most of the old sales techniques of the last decade no longer work.

Customers are put off by tired and over used sales techniques. Today selling is about being helpful, providing advice and assistance to customers in matching specific products or services to the customer's specific needs. You need to be good at discovering those needs to be able to offer helpful solutions. Many sales people jump too quickly over the process of discovering needs and skip straight to the "solutions" stage. This makes selling difficult. When you spend most of your time discovering needs, you build a lot of trust that means when it comes to offering the solution it is usually obvious that it is the right one for the customer and they buy with minimal hesitation. It all comes down to being prepared to help, not sell.

Be Prepared to Compete

Do you worry about your competitors and feel that they are getting too many sales that you should have won? Well, don't just worry and get annoyed about it. Be prepared to fight back. Find out what the competition does and learn about their strengths and weaknesses. Then get proactive. Attack their weaknesses and downplay their strengths in your marketing and sales efforts. Do a better job of marketing your business and products or service than they do theirs. If you can't do it yourself, get help.

Be Prepared for Objections

You have probably noticed that most sales don't go through the process smoothly without the customer raising some objections. Despite this, many sales people seem to be caught out when customers have a problem or need an answer to a concern they have. This is often the case when the same types of objections are raised repeatedly. Good preparation can help in overcoming objections. Get your salespeople to write down objections that stump them. Find the best way to overcome those objections and prepare your sales people to answer them effectively. This is best done by answering the objections before the customer raises them. Do you know what a difference it makes to a sales person's confidence levels when they feel prepared to tackle objections? It's enough to make your sales graph go through the roof.

Why does this happen?

It's all to do with the way the subconscious perceives survival. It knows that you are in a safe position and that survival is more or less guaranteed if you carry on in the same way. As soon as you start to consider making changes to your life, your subconscious mind will play the fear card. You are leaving the comfort zone and boy-oh-boy, does it not like it! Not one little bit!

This is no joke. It happens to millions of people and this fear ruins their dreams for a better life. And here's the danger of giving in to this fear: You can feel as though you're stuck in a rut - kind of like life is passing you by. As the years pass, these feelings can become magnified and you can become filled with regret over opportunities you didn't grasp.

I don't know about you but the last feeling I want before I breathe my last is that I didn't take advantage of opportunities because I gave in to my fears. Because let's be honest here, we can generate excuse after excuse to save face and gain sympathetic understanding from our families and loved ones. But we can't fool ourselves. Deep down inside, we know the truth.

If you want to achieve a dream, you are going to have to understand and overcome fear. There's a lot to it, much more than I can cover in one article. But for now, I want to look at an ally of fear, an ally that you can easily defeat.

When we're in the comfort zone, one thing re-enforces it more than any other. Routine. Performing the same habits and behaviors on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. The more routines you have in your life, the harder it is to embrace life-enhancing changes. Any break from

routines is met with strong resistance by your mind.

This is security. And the more secure you feel, the more the mind believes we are safe, that survival is assured. Introducing change triggers the fear response because your subconscious mind perceives a threat to your survival.

A great technique to combat this is to demonstrate that your conscious mind is in control. You do this by adopting the axiom that change is essential to growth. The more you embrace change, the more color you add to your life. The more you grow, the more happiness, satisfaction and fulfilment you feel.

Here's a couple of great ideas to further help keep the fear of change at bay by limiting the routines you perform in life. Use them to stimulate your own ideas:

* Start and finish work at different times each day - if work allows. Can also vary the times you have lunch - and where you eat lunch. Can you vary the routes you take to and from the workplace?

* Eat a different breakfast each day. Most people eat the same breakfast everyday. Can you vary it? And try not to get in the routine of eating the same meal on a particular day. E.g. Tuesday is pot roast, Friday is fish, Saturday is steak.

* Shop at different supermarkets. Many people shop at the same stores on the same day every week. Try different ones, different days.

* Try a different cuisine every week. I love cooking and I like to try as many different dishes as I can. One idea I use is to pick a country and try a couple of recipes from there. You could also use states and regions. It's a great way of varying the diet and learning about other cultures.

* Visit somewhere new at least once a month. This could be a new town or country, a new restaurant, a new museum, theatre, park wherever you can think of!

* Avoid the temptation to watch television every night. Read a book, surf the Internet, attend a night-school class, workout, go to the movies - the idea here is not to just slump in front of the TV every night.

OK, I know these are basic ideas but they are effective in helping to break mundane routines. Routine really can make life a bit of a dull plod, so please do try and use these ideas to help you break free from them. And please don't rush into making major changes as it can be overwhelming. Take it nice and slow by making small adjustments to make life less of a routine and to slowly get the mind to accept changes when they come.

It's so important to demonstrate to the subconscious that YOU are in control and that you will not let fear of change control you. If you let it, your imagination will set boundaries on the amount of happiness you can get from life. The biggest weapon it will use to stop you from embracing life-enhancing change is FEAR.

How Could Choosing to Not Do It All Enhance Your Impact?. Creating a Compelling Headline for Your Private Practice Website.

How often have you heard yourself say, "I've got so many balls in the air I don't know how I can possibly keep track of them all".

We may be managing to keep the balls in motion, but how good is our juggling performance really? Are our movements controlled and rhythmic? Or are we merely gritting our teeth and hoping to catch the next ball before it falls on the ground?

Recently I was speaking with a colleague (we'll call him Craig) who is a high achievement-oriented and well-regarded senior manager. He was overwhelmed by how much was on his plate. In addition to handling his high-pressure career, he had begun pursuing a post-graduate degree while he was already enrolled in another certificate program.

Furthermore, several projects at home also competed for his attention. In the midst of all this, Craig said that he was hoping to be able to continue to stick it out with the post-graduate degree, even though the workload was much more than he'd anticipated. To do anything other than persevere would be so out of character that it was inconceivable to him. In Craig's words, "it would mean giving up".

As we talked, I asked Craig whether there might be a more positive way of viewing the choices facing him. Rather than seeing the decision NOT to do something as GIVING UP...how could the decision be re-framed as CHOOSING TO FULFILL other important goals? Such a decision might mean choosing successful completion of a few key goals, rather than struggling to keep all the balls in motion.

In Craig's situation, family commitments were at the top of his priority list. Instead of "giving up", postponing the post-graduate degree meant that he could choose to successfully meet his family priorities, while completing his certificate program and performing effectively at work.

In trying to do it all right now, we can run the risk of not meeting our most critical goals and being out of synch with our core values.

As with many challenges in the business world, useful analogies can be drawn from nature. For example, a slowly meandering brook that enters a more narrow passage will eventually transform into a surging current. By narrowing the path, the energy of the water is channelled and results in greater momentum and power. Focus can provide the same effect for us in our work and our everyday lives.

Coach's Question #1:
How are you diluting your focus and compromising your impact?

Somehow it can be easier for us to recognize this challenge at the organization level. When organizations stray too far from their core competencies, all too often they flounder and fail.

At the personal level this dynamic seems more difficult to acknowledge. There is something in our business culture than has difficulty with "less is more". There seems to be an unwritten competition for the longest job description and most extensive "to do" list. We need to take a hard look at how this serves our effectiveness.

In my Coaching practice, I've noticed that the importance of focus is particularly critical when someone first moves into a new job or joins a new organization. It is tempting to want to immediately meet the needs of all stakeholders and attend to as much of the long-list of demands as possible. Yet, it has been observed that failure to generate a small list of early successes is a leading contributor to derailment of executives soon after they join a new organization. In fact, some enlightened companies dedicate resources to ensuring that new leaders determine these priorities quickly, establishing their list of 3 key wins as a formal action plan during an Onboarding Coaching process.

So how do you narrow down what you are going to address? Clearly determining the needs of your organization, your manager and your team is a critical step. Equally, if not more important, is doing an honest self-assessment of where it makes most sense for you, given your individual strengths, to spend your time.

Like many entrepreneurs, in running my own business I am constantly facing this Focus challenge. Being your own Finance, IT, Purchasing and Sales departments, as well as administrative assistant, can greatly dilute one's efforts. Aligning myself with a team of individuals whom I can relay on for specific support is critical to ensuring I can keep my eye on my core business. It is very alluring to fall-back on the old adage "if I do it myself, I know it will get done", but this of course can be a very limiting belief to growing your business.

I was recently challenged by my Coach (yes, conscientious coaches ensure that they also benefit from the power of coaching!) to look at ways I could enhance my focus by maximizing the time spent leveraging my strengths. Attending to detailed administration, for example, does not tap into my core passions to say the least. The outcome? I took the plunge and have hired a Virtual Assistant, Cindy, (her real name) who is a whiz at areas that are an inordinate burden for me. I can't tell you how my shoulders lifted when I received my first email outlining all the tasks that Cindy would be handling for me. The momentum created by this decision is invaluable for me!

Your home page is the most important page of your website. It is the one that will determine what your potential client or customer does after they arrive (i.e stays at or leaves your website).

Research on web usability shows that you only have a few seconds to catch the attention of your website visitors. One of the most important ways to do this is through your opening headline.

Your headline's main purpose is to attract attention and generate enough interest so that your visitors keep reading. It's a first step in a process where your goal is to eventually convince them to take action on your offer.

Here are a few tips for creating powerful headlines:

Let your readers know that your site is for them. People want to know immediately when they arrive at your site if they are going to get what they are looking for. Your headline should give someone indication that they are in the right place.

Make sure your headline focuses very specifically on the core problem of your target market or the key benefit that you are offering.

Choose interesting, meaningful and/or thought-provoking words. Ideally, your headline should jolt your reader into saying something like, &Hey this is for me!"

Speak to your client's emotions. People typically make purchasing decisions based on their emotions so you want to be sure you illustrate to your potential clients and customers that you understand them and the feelings they are experiencing.

Your headline should be clear and to the point. Your reader should understand your message instantly. Do not water down or convolute your message so that the reader has to struggle to find it's meaning. One second of struggle could mean that your visitor is gone to the next site.

Writing attention-grabbing headlines can be challenging as there are many components to consider if they are to be successful.

You might want to do some reading in this area or hire someone to help you create your headline. Your headline can make all the difference in determining whether your website is drawing, as opposed to repelling, potential clients and customers.

The importance of will-power is recognized by most men, yet few deliberately give any time or thought to its development. Why we resist one thing and yield to another may be due to "the strongest motive," but what more particularly concerns us in the study of self-confidence is in what way this mighty power can be built and directed.

Does desire control the will, or will desire? The psychologist points to the testimony of consciousness as confirming our freedom to choose a certain course and to pursue it, with the feeling that we could choose some other course if we desired.

In either event, there is no feeling of compulsion, and this would seem to confirm the idea of freedom of will.

Let desire, then, be the starting-point of the student's attempt to educate his will. To strengthen immediately his desire for a strong will, he should dwell intently upon the advantages this power will confer upon him. He should think deeply upon the satisfaction that will come to him from doing things definitely and promptly, and the increased self-confidence that will surely follow from the habit of finishing in a thorough manner everything he undertakes. By dwelling long and earnestly upon the inestimable value of a strong, well-directed will, there will grow in his mind an intense desire to possess this faculty, to use it to his daily advantage, and finally by its aid to realize his life's ambition.

such as poverty, pain, misfortune, and ill-health; while there are things we much desire to have, such as wealth, power, knowledge, and independence. It is, however, the intensity of our desire that counts for most.

"I desire to become a good public speaker," says one. "How strong is your desire?" asks the teacher. "Will you practice regularly every day for an hour?!" "I don't think I can," says the student, "because my time is so much occupied during the day, and at night I am too tired." "What personal sacrifices are you ready to make?" "None," is the answer. "Then," replies the teacher,

"Your desire is not strong enough to make you a good public speaker."

This applies with equal force to you who read these pages in search of help to develop your self-confidence.

How strong is your desire to acquire this great power?

Is it strong enough to lead you carefully to read all the suggestions offered here and to put them into actual practice?

Will you enter upon this study with intense earnestness and perseverance?

Will you make reasonable sacrifice to achieve this great end?

Your answer to such questions as these will largely determine what your success will be.

I was privileged to have a good friend and great Internet Marketer to share this time-tested principle with me. And I am about to share it with you, too! The principle is called "abundance". Yes, abundance. It may be just one word yet there is great power behind it.

If you are living life believing that there is scarcity on our planet, you will probably do business and behave that way. Not understanding that principle is what is forcing most of us to be more competitive, selfish and perhaps more hostile.

The fact is this: there is abundance in everything - food, shelter, clothing, money, prospects, and more.

If your mind is closed to this universal principle and you think everything is scarce - you will behave selfishly and gear yourself to be more competitive. While we should be a little more competitive but hey, have you considered working with other people rather than going against them?

This is a time-tested principle and has been long practiced even by kings and queens from centuries ago. Rather than to destroy another nation, some of the smart rulers marry their children to other rulers to ensure peace and prosperity thus preventing war! Interesting to note? Indeed! But we are getting off the point here.

If you are an Internet Marketer of some kind, it is important to keep believing that there is abundance of prospects on the Internet. After all, the Internet is not a lonely place for lonely people. The people are REAL.

It is only when you think there is a limited supply of prospects that you start to grab your share in any which way you can. I am sure you have seen even reputable Internet Marketers degrading and belittling others just so that they can get what they are after.

This is horribly embarrassing having looked it comes from a source who should have known better than to do that.

If you believe in the Abundance principle, there will be no end to your prospects. "How is that possible?" you ask. Well, consider the following!

Some did not have money last year, but they have money now and therefore can be your prospects today.

Some were not frustrated last year with their jobs, but they just got fired this year and they do not enjoy their new jobs. Therefore they are ready now and so can be your prospects today.

Some were still immature last year, but they are matured this year and so can understand what you are saying better this yea and so can be your prospects today.

Some never touched the computer last year, but did this year because their child started to ask for one and became interested themselves since they have to teach their child to use it therefore can be your prospects today.

Some never noticed your advertisement because they were never interested in Internet Marketing in the first place, but they had an accident this year and have plenty of time in bed resting from their injuries, and they are now reading every word in their newspapers or on the Internet and they see your advertisement now.

There are new babies being born every single year. It was the same 20, 30 years ago with new babies being born every single year then. This means that every year will bring you new prospects when they turn 20, or 30 or 40 or whatever age is suitable for your business.

The actual figures will vary from year to year, but you WILL have more new prospects than you can handle in the future.

It is a matter of them being ready, and you using more than just newspaper advertisements to reach out to them because believe it or not, some just do not like to read newspapers, preferring to get their news from the radio, TV, the Internet or even in the mail! Others prefer to listen to their friends' suggestions!

I have saved the best for the last: in one of the Rich Dad series, it is stated that there is 1.4 trillion dollars traveling around the world electronically looking to enter people's pockets!

Now are you convinced how much abundance the world have all in all?

On the other hand, when you see scarcity everywhere, the trouble starts. You become selfish. You become hostile. You will be totally stressed out and pulling your hair when you find competitors springing up like mushrooms after a heavy rain, especially after you have just toppled one.

When you see abundance everywhere (and there IS abundance everywhere in just about anything), you become generous, you become more likeable, and you will have very little stress.

So which way would you like to go? Only you can answer that. It is all in your mind. It is all in how you think. That brief, but deep understanding is all it takes to make you a likeable, better person, or a mean, selfish one.

Now stay with me for a while longer Anna, and I think you will get the full picture of this entity, or at least, some of it before we get into the letters, journals and diaries that lay ahead: the information I have found for you throughout the world, i.e.: England, New Orleans, Minnesota, and a few other places. And thank you for paying me in advance the $25,000; of course it's all gone now, the trips and hotels were expensive, but nonetheless, I became quite imprinted with the objective to unfold this mystery for you, while on this journey.

When the pit was first created, strangely enough, it was never opened by the angelic renegades [for some reason they knew better, for they surely knew of it]. These angelic-beings were originally,--the angels whom came down from the clouds, who were assigned initially to watch over mankind, but decided for lustful reasons to cohabitate with women, and so step by step, by and by, they made their way to the surface (they were beings of no ethics; and no doubt, on the point of impartiality-could care less for humans: which should be of no value to us one way or the other, for they are long gone ((yet I bring them forth as a new acquaintance)). Some have said, and it was not me who said it, God plants his holy angels in spots they will be tempted and then punishes them when they fault. Well, that is exactly what they did-fault. Making a pack amongst themselves, all two-hundred of them decided to come down to earth and that should the Almighty get angry and decide to punish them, they &all were one, and one for all.' In other words: Azaz'el, and Amazes [the leaders], made it known, they were not going to be the only ducks in the pond-when and if there was a time to pay the penalty; or should I say, the only ones in the courtroom should the Almighty get upset and come hunting for them, hunting for them like a wolf hungry for revenge and put them on trial; so those two wanted the rest to go down with them to the surface of the earth to rule it. And again I say for remembrance sake, they made a pack, a bondage with one another, and literately came down to earth, and took the women from whomever they pleased, be it: wives, daughters, children (boy or girls), for pleasure, and ruled the world as they seen fit. They ended up having huge sons, which became gods among men, and whom had war with one another, killing off their own race of giants eventually. But I am getting a little too far off the main menu, let me get re-focused.

And as I understood-as he stood there, he reminded the two-hundred they had swore an oath and were bound to each other accordingly: that everyone, --that is, everyone among them, swore to the curse, not to abandon what they had planned, which was not only to cohabitate with the females, but to rule the earth as gods together: Titans one might visualize them as; hence, becoming legends for Atlantis, and for the Greeks to tell tales about: --for example, Gilgamesh's heritage (in old Sumer (for he was two-thirds god and one third human), and his priestess Shamhat, the one he sent to subdue Enkidu, the wild man from the Cedar Forest; in which she did; and to be quite frank, he was half demonic himself, a beast similar to the demon Vii, whom is three-fourths demonic (and I should add at this juncture, demons or demonic beings, are not like angelic beings; they are from the Pre-Satanic era, when Satan, then called Lucifer, ruled the Earth with God's blessing; and then-when Lucifer built his Army, he was kicked out of heaven for revolting, thus, the inhabitants of the earth which were angelic beings at the time, and those so called beings of another kind ((alien-men of sorts, so I shall call them that for a brief moment-, became devil-men, or men of the devil: and were branded (or given) that name ever since)).

Now as I was about to say, and I should say for the women's liberation movement, had there not been a Shamhat, who had become the Temple Priestesses [back in the days of Gilgamesh], there would not have been an Epic of Gilgamish to read in our libraries today; but again I find my fancies of ancient history getting in my way of my real assignment which of course is you per se. rest of course, but not all directly under his command, save for one fact, indirectly one might say he was the Commander and Chief generally speaking. And in continuing this area of thought, things were run a little different back then. Nonetheless these unethical angelic beings such as: Amasras taught incantations, Asder'el taught the course of the moon, and deception, --Azaz'el one of the most troublesome of the lot, revealed eternal secrets of heaven to the earthlings. And Michael and Gabriel, whom have become known as the: &Good' vs. &Bad,' angels observed carefully from the sky, and saw much blood being shed upon the earth; as they oppressed all other beings without much effort. I might add; similar to your Superman, and Hawkman, comics of today-but these were real, I mean very real super-beings.

And to make a long story shorter, Raphael, bound Azaz'el and throw him into darkness, making a hole in the desert and putting sharp rocks over him, subsequently he could not see the light of day and was bound to his cramped quarters-bound like a paralyzing snake bite. And accordingly, some of these angelic-renegades were cast into the sands of the desert, and the majorities were cast into the great cavity of the earth, the hole in the ground, the pit. And the children of these beings somewhat died out, leaving their gene pool behind-slightly: those were the very giants I was talking about a moment ago.

The sin was three fold; it was eternal angelic beings that defiled themselves with those women, blood and flesh, and their lust produced children. This mixture went against the creation of heaven like gravity to man. For spiritual beings, heaven is heaven for them, and for the flesh, heaven can be sex on earth, until we get to heaven, which then we will be spiritual beings-if that makes sense? Now let's take this to the angelic level, the visible world, which is of course, sexual intercourse with a woman, for men on earth, in consequence, the beings wanted both, heaven on earth and heaven in heaven-it sounds a little like mankind does it not? Be that as it may, they found it, but in the course of finding it, lost heaven. As the old saying goes, &...you can't have your cake and eat it to.' But I would guess they got tired of the same old heaven in heaven, and God's temptation just became too appetizing, like the apple Eve ate in the Garden of Eden. Kind of like when I was a boy, I wanted to fly like an angel; you know what I mean, like superman, that sort of person: like these beings were. So you see, we just can't have it both ways; --one or the other, yet as a human we can dream and there we can fly, I suppose: maybe God did that on purpose to dangle a fancy dream that was untouchable to annoy us. But I speculation we both had similar dreams, meaning, the angelic beings, dreamed about having sex, and I dreamed about flying like them, as I have already mentioned. Or better put, I'd prefer the superhuman qualities, to simply having a diet of sex. A matter of preference I suppose.

Abyss Worms

These creatures with purple eyes: which have a reddish and orange tone to their skin, I call: the "Abyss Virus Worms," in lack of a better term; or again I repeat myself, "Crazy Worm [s]," whence-for the most part-they were inaccessible to mankind or even beasts on the surface of the earth until after the abyss was created, and thereafter opened; as well as other creatures in the crust of the earth knew nothing about them, which I doubt there were any others at such depths anyhow. And if there were, I'm sure it was not to their fondness, and quickly were infected and died. Furthermore, to get to these creature type worms, one would have to be quite squirmy like worms, similar to a small reptile without legs (for there was a time when snakes did have legs you know, and were able to penetrate tons of pressure from the earth upon them. Taking this all into account, such an adventure, one would have to have a roadmap to and through the pit (along with a road, so as not to get lost on the way-if that makes sense), this all sounds silly I suppose, but silly or not, it is only impractical when you can come up with a truer version, in any form, and so, in any case, I will continue on with this line of thinking, that is, within the pit, and of course, none of what I say exists, -to my knowledge that is, although I think the pit might be compared with/or to the Grand Canyon.

In conclusion Anna, to this area of deliberation and study I have researched out to inform you about, let me say, or let's say if &I', for instance wanted to go find this long lost pit, or abyss-if you will, I would have to get into (inside of, that is) a thin reptile-snake resembling creature as I have earlier mentioned, of which I'd not feel too comfortable, or for that matter, feel too safe. And then we'd have to squirm our way to the pit, hoping we could go a few hundred miles an hour as it would take a year or two; and if we did find the pit, what would we do there besides? A rhetorical question at best; and how would we get back to the surface of the earth? So this is what has flown in and out of my brain like a dead bird crashing at times, yes, it was out of the question for me to go find the pit, but not out of my mind, which was to learn about it, so I examined this line of thinking. You see, all this fine information I provide you with! I shall give you more than most people will ever know on this subject.

(Anna at this point is unsettled, wiping her eyes, had just listened to the first tape sent to her by the investigator; she leans back to rest on her bed-listening to the last few lines over again, hoping to extract something out of it that can be used against the curse that has been put upon her, and her family for generations.

Could NO2 be the next Creatine? When Creatine was launched, it was expensive. But it worked. It was a huge craze at the gyms and most everybody wanted it. The reason they wanted it so much, is that it worked. It was legal and the side-effects, well so far, there aren't any (as long as you drink plenty of fluids). Since the launching of this successful product, there has never been anything that hit the market with the same enthusiasm.

NO2, according to research , "the first of an exciting new category of muscle-enhancers known as a hemodilators. NO2 has the unique ability to perpetually sustain the flow of muscle-building agents to skeletal muscle." Before I give my review, I'd like to share another quote of the benefits and claims. "By increasing nitric oxide production, NO2 increases your maximum contractile velocity - in all muscle types. The results are immediate and consequential, and include increasing your load capacity, boosting your power output, and quickening your muscle contraction."

When I first was asked to try this product, I was skeptical. I've been bodybuilding for 16 years now (mainly for general fitness not to get freaky huge), and I've tried a lot of supplements. The last time I was excited about a supplement was Creatine like most of the gym-rats. But I'm always willing to review something and try it for myself in hopes that maybe I'll find that gem and tell the rest of the world.

Taking 3 pills before breakfast, and another 3 one-half hour before lunch, I can honestly say that while I've noticed no gains in strength yet, my muscle do feel perpetually pumped. It's like I just came back from the gym but it lasts all day. While I cannot say the results are amazing, I can say the effects - both physical and psychological - are extraordinary.

As with any supplement, you need to drink plenty of water. NO2 does not have this specific requirement, but I've noticed that being properly hydrated has helped me keep that pump going all day. I've also seen some recommendations that taking NO2 with Creatine gives a complementary effect. To date, I have not tried this.

If you are looking for the next Creatine, NO2 could be it. I love the effects. Unfortunately like Creatine when it first came out, it's not cheap. But I've heard rumors that others will jump on this market and bring down the prices where the masses can afford it.

The Bel'Air Bio-tech Research Centre hopes to strengthen the foundation of botanic essential oil research and further the investigation of essential oils and their various properties, effects and benefits. Professor Tsai also hopes to share knowledge with international institutions and publish academic papers. At the same time, he aims to educate the public on aromatherapy.

The Effects of Essential Oils on Micro-organisms Present in the Air

Between August 2000 and September 2002, Bel'Air Bio-tech Research Centre carried out a research

program to determine whether Green tea essential oil, Ginseng essential oil, Eucalyptus essential oil and Lavender essential oil have an influence on the amount of micro-organism (mold, yeast, fungus, bacteria) in the air. The researchers conducted tests on Green Tea essential oil, Ginseng essential oil, Eucalyptus essential oil and Lavender essential oil. They burned these 4 types of essential oils in a sealed room, and recorded readings at different time intervals. Readings were taken at the beginning of experiment (0 min), during the experiment (30, 50, 70, 90 mins) and after the experiment (30, 60, 90,120,150,180,210 mins). The experiment was repeated several times based on a sample of 500 litres of air. The experiment results proved that:

He also said that although the effectiveness figures for fungus seem low, but that is desirable because this would mean that it would not be harmful to the body.

After obtaining such positive and encouraging results, Bel'Air has worked even harder to carry out the 2nd experiment. This program made detailed analysis and records of the chemical compositions of these 5 essential oils, and tests were done to determine their chemical and biological safety.

Professor Tsai carefully selected Ginseng, Green Tea, Green Bamboo, Lotus and Eucalyptus as the 5 essential oils for the experiment. The reason for such a selection was because the 1st four essential oils are plants from the East, of which not enough researches had been carried out in the West. The selection of Eucalyptus was to act as a test reference for the other 4.

Chemical and Biological Safety Experiment

The 2nd experiment went through the following steps:

Using GC-MS to analyse the chemical composition of these 5 essential oils. Based on their individual chemical compositions, analysis was done to determine the safety for use of essential oils. Using GC_MS to determine the after effects of these essential oils, whether any by-products or toxins were produced in the combustion process. Using Ames test to test the before and after changes of these essential oils.

Using skin cells, fat cells and HepG2cancer cells to determine essential oils effects.

Find out what effects these essential oils have in combating bacteria and killing micro-organism such as mold, yeast and fungus (MIC). The 2nd experiment results proved that these essential oils have compositions that are mild, low in toxins, do not irritate skin and have low light-sensitivity. The Ames test also proved that these essential oils do no go through major changes before and after the combustion process. What is more encouraging is that before the test, these essential oils already contained beneficial compositions, but after the test, these beneficial compositions diffused into the air and these are what the body needs exactly. America has a love for the automobile and many of the old cars are fixed up. About a decade ago you may recall a program where oil companies in some states could buy old cars and get them off the streets and trade for pollution credits, of which El Paso and Enron both enjoyed trading. Enron traded everything from Lumber futures and pollution to energy and just about anything consumable that the Boys in Chicago had not yet created the market for. If it is not bolted to the floor and contracts were drawn for future use, you can bet it was on the potential list to be traded. Bandwidth, oil pipeline capacity, water you name it. Commoditizing the world has advantages and this is one way to control the junk and costs associated. This has always been a free enterprise theme to reduce pollution here in the US.

In the European Union 7.3 million cars per year are ELV'ed or ELV Treated, although there are 11 million total sent to the graveyard, furnace, junk yard or recycle crushers, but first plastics and other items are taken apart. In the US we just crush the crap out of them and deal with the entire pancake. Let's face it this is a good start. Problem is that each Country in the EU has different guidlines, these countries can never make up their mind. For instance the debt borrowing of the Euro in Germany and France and the rest of the countries having to pay later for the hamburger today.

In the US we have the United States, although often act like the United Countries although we are not much better as in almost every industry we have a different set of laws. States like CA, OR, WA, MA act like socialist countries and obvious are paying for it now. Beware the socialists in their goal to make all things equal, they can ruin anything, ask Plato. We can do better than this, but we fight over the means, why? There can be no excuse. Meanwhile with all the EPA deadlines un-met and all the passed costs to businesses by light, Medium and Heavy duty truck manufacturers, FedEx's Fred Smith put out a challenge that he wanted 50% more fuel efficient units with 90% less emissions. Apparently these do-gooders do not understand entrepreneurship otherwise they would be solving the world's problems by creating not accusing.

Renault adopted a plan on their own called LEM-Life-Cycle Management and found 13 key vendors to achieve this, a much better and well organized plan this was back in 1999. You see when you take apart computers especially old ones they have gold plated components on the circuit boards and connections. Dell only charges $15.00 to recycle and they get at least $8-22 in gold out of each one. Once apart they can be 67% recycled. The EU wants certain things to no longer be used in the manufacturing of cars, such as mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadium and lead. Most US Manufacturers have already done this completely and the rest will soon be completed. Smaller companies such as MG Rover which use to produce millions of cars now only sells 200,000 per year in the UK, the UK likes the idea and are up with the compliance anyway seeing as they agree since they are on an island. But you can always drive the cars to Europe in the Chunnel and they do not want the reciprocate, the UK says we are not a junk yard.

The UK has it's own plan called: ACORD-Automotive Consortium on Recycling and Disposal. They are proposing a cash incentive for turning in a vehicle, the Economist and the Futurists have both had articles on this thought and it is similar to the Oil Companies paying to get off the road those cars which would not run on Unleaded fuels and needed the lead additive. People were paid to dispose, in this case though people are paid to dispose properly and the UK would let the manufacturers off the hook and let the owner be responsible after all they own the car and there is no telling how many owners a car in Europe may have had during its life before it became an end of life vehicle like Logan in Logan's Run and had to be renewed.

The UK's Motor Vehicle Dismantlers Association agreed that the owner would be given the $75.00 equivalent in pounds as an incentive. Probably also would need to be based on inflation and the CPI-Consumer Price Index you know the Brits in their need to be exact, they are all wannabe economists. Failure to properly dispose and renew registration on the vehicle would mean that the fine penalty would be issued to their drivers license, they are more connected there. But the problem is inconsistencies for instance Greece had no shredding sites, while Germany has 42, Italy 16, France 42 and in the UK 37 total. Problem too is that those cars from others countries in Europe would not be able to take their cars to the UK, they only want to dispose of their own cars, not everyone else's. Obviously they do not want to pay the $75.00 for every citizen in Europe who want their car melted and shredded.

No one is fooling the Austrians and they could care less because they do not make cars anyway, figuring it is everyone elses problem so come get your cars and forget about us building any shredder plants in our beautiful country.

Lots of questions, the UK is still talking with industry and the cars well they keep piling up, in the United States we have more room, but many of these old automobiles have other issues and materials of yester year, just like the old aircraft in the desert are slowly decaying and aluminum in the water may cause the immune system to attack the brain such in Alzheimer's. About 10 million vehicles are scrapped in the us each year. Now remember the net gain of 7 million is the traffic you see. You see the 10 million vehicles crushed or shredded in the US each year contains about a million tons of polyurethane Foam and about 1,500,000,000 pounds of thermoplastics, which is trucked to the landfill or incinerated. We need to look at the options for ELV as the US has to come to grips with the problem as junked cars increase.

By recycling the ASR-Automotive Shredder Residue as per Argonne's tested model, a reduction of 75% of the waste can stop on the way to the landfill. In the US we have discovered this can be resold to make other products, both in automotive and other fields. This is done by a two stage trummel, it is like a rotating screen, same principle as fishing for gold in Auburn, CA gold country. Or the Rock Crusher sifters in Sunlight goldmine in Butte, MT. The sifter splits up the debris into three parts, similar to the quarters, tokens and dimes sent into the coin-op car wash for processing into rolls for the bank and recycling of tokens back to the machine. In this process the University of Chicago was able to build the machine able to take out the dirty foam, oxides of less than 6 mm, like rust chips and also the glass chips, dirt. Also taken out of the ELV junk cars would be sand granulars, other metals and plastics. Smaller holes allow these materials to filter and the foam rises and is left. It is merely dumped over the side and collected in a huge bin and trucked away. Very efficiently however recovering nearly completely debris free dirty foam larger and lighter foam chips. Like the water, which weighs more than the gold.

Foam and we have studied it on this board previously, go ahead an look it up after you are completed with this topic. the Foam is then washed, rinsed, dried and then of course re-used. Foam when missed with chemical is easily dissolved and then the chemical precipitated out and the foam is reblown with gas and made into the next substance and preferable shape. Foam being 5% liquid and 95% gas until it hardens is cheap to make, but having the substance the 5% for free is also cool. The only issues are the same involved in bulky cardboard recycling and the economies of scale and mass production depend a lot on transportation issues, trains and trucks cost money to run and the stuff is bulky for it's value. If the substance can be removed onsite it is much more feasible and the foam turned to liquid is reduced from 100 volume

So you can separate the two types of plastic with 95 plus percentage accuracy. The recovered ABS can be used for a multitude of things in another automobile. There are a few issues also with the thin galvanized steel used to keep cars light which is used in modern cars, it is zinc coated and when your melt it, it gives off toxic clouds of dust.

The best idea is to strip the zinc before the process and there is a way to do this by using sodium hydroxide and electrolysis at room temperatures. To remove the zinc from solution use a centrifuge.

The Argonne is going to sell this entire process to Belgium, and the other EU countries are saying that for every 35 ELV cars just one engine can be sold, nearly 95% of all ELVs have negative value, yet the Argonne solution solves those issues. One issue with the recycling of steel is much is contaminated with copper, this could cause failure in steel frames on cars and especially with grain memory methods of manufacturing where the steel is trained to stay straight such as in steering rods, axles, truck frames, bridge components, buildings etc. if bent the steel returns to it's intended design shape without worries of fatigue from torsion or other forces. The Japanese would by it after all they claim their stainless is the same, but when 5% nickel is really used it does not rust like the Japanese steel, no wonder we are upset with their imported steel. Even with 505 stainless for underground tanks if we use the Japanese stuff our tanks will corrode much faster leaving us with significant damage to environment and drinking well water and underground aquifer contamination although that was never discussed in the Kyoto treaty either.

You can recover about 50 lbs of zinc from a ton of steel and yes zinc has value such as undercoatings of bridges, use in pigments or marine or aircraft corrosion prevention. Plastics recovered is about half the cost to producing plastics from corn due to corn prices, with other plastics, eating and ethanol. Also in drought years plastics cost more due to oil companies getting more as less corn is produced for taco shells, Kellogg's corn flakes and Tony the tiger. In all seriousness though this is correct along with the artificial manipulation of the commodity markets as margining players, market movers, farmers hedging their bet against the crop production and speculators let it all hang out.

We need to have a plan and we are well on our way in the states, we can work better since we are in the same country and all on the same team, as long as the other states follow the BMP that fits the needs of the American People and do not try ot build some special program to pay off their over spending as their tax base dwindles from cutting off the hand of the businesses that fed them all these years.

The US is going to have to come to grips with the growing number of old junk cars in this country within the next 5-10 years, it is getting to be bigger and bigger issue, so we need to set a course to make fix the situation.

PPC advertising has many great benefits. First of all, you get your traffic going quickly. I have used this advantage many times. I test new products and even new websites through PPC advertising before making a decision to promote or scrap my new website or product idea.

I am a firm believer in testing new products before throwing large amounts of money into advertising. PPC advertising is a great way to do this. For example, with Google's Adwords program, you can post your ad, pay a $5 sign-up fee and have highly targeted traffic to your website within an hour. How is that for efficiency?

Also, you can moniter your click charges and stop them before they get too expensive. By the time you have spent your budget on clicks, you should have a pretty good idea of how successful your product is going to be.

I think of PPC advertising as being the most useful when starting a new business or product. WIth PPC advertising, you can quickly and efficiently find out which keywords you need to target and which products are the most popular.

Once that testing period is over, however, it's time to look into Search Engine Optimization. PPC advertising can be very expensive, costing hundreds, even thousands a month in advertising costs. Once you know what keywords to target, it's time to put together a plan on how you are going to optimize your website.

The drawbacks to search engine optimization is that it requires a lengthy amount of time to get your site to rank high with your keywords. That is why I suggest using this method after the testing period is over, when you already know your business will be profitable.

Search engines can take months, even years to start pulling up high with the search engines. When getting your site to start pulling up in SE natural listings there are 2 main things that need to be done:

Search engine traffic requires you to submit your site to many different search engines and wait, maybe even months for them to spider your website.

I have had much better luck with another route.

You can pay a fee to have your website listed in a very high ranking directory like www.dmoz.com (free), www.yahoo.com's directory ($299), sbd.bcentral.com (only $50), or another website where your link is on a page that has a page ranking of 4,5,6 or higher. The sites I mentioned above have rankings of 8 or 9. When you have your link on a site with that high of a ranking, the search engines are spidering those sites constantly and will find your website and spider it very quickly. Not only will they find it quickly but because you are linked to a high ranking site, you will also rank higher with the SE.

When looking for backlinks, focus on sites with content related to yours and high page rankings of 4 or higher.

As for content on your site, try to include about 200-500 words of content or text on most of the pages of your site. Text makes your site bulkier. Make sure to integrate all of the keywords you want to target within the content of your site. Don't worry about cramming the same keywords in over and over. Search engines may possibly even blacklist your site for keyword stuffing, if you try to do that.

There is a lot to know about Search Engine Optimization but, those are the 2 main factors when getting started.

In summary, when starting out, I suggest using PPC advertising for testing products and keywords. Spend time optimizing your site for search engine traffic after you have tested your products and keywords.

Microsoft PowerPoint has dramatically changed the way in which academic and business presentations are made. This article outlines few tips on making more effective and attractive PowerPoint presentations.

THE TEXT

Keep the wording clear and simple. Use active, visual language. Cut unnecessary words - a good rule of thumb is to cut paragraphs down to sentences, sentences into phrases, and phrases into key words.
Limit the number of words and lines per slide. Try the Rule of Five - five words per line, five lines per slide. If too much text appears on one slide, use the AutoFit feature to split it between two slides. Click within the placeholder to display the AutoFit Options button (its symbol is two horizontal lines with arrows above and below), then click on the button and choose Split Text Between Two Slides from the submenu.

Font size for titles should be at least 36 to 40, while the text body should not be smaller than 24.
Use only two font styles per slide - one for the title and the other for the text. Choose two fonts that visually contrast with each other. Garamond Medium Condensed and Impact are good for titles, while Garamond or Tempus Sans can be used for the text body.
Embed the fonts in your presentation, if you are not sure whether the fonts used in the presentation are present in the computer that will be used for the presentation. To embed the fonts: (1) On the File menu, click Save As. (2) On the toolbar, click Tools, click Save Options, select the Embed TrueType Fonts check box, and then select Embed characters in use only.
Use colors sparingly; two to three at most. You may use one color for all the titles and another for the text body. Be consistent from slide to slide. Choose a font color that contrasts well with the background.
Capitalizing the first letter of each word is good for the title of slides and suggests a more formal situation than having just the first letter of the first word capitalized. In bullet point lines, capitalize the first word and no other words unless they normally appear capped. Upper and lower case lettering is more readable than all capital letters. Moreover, current styles indicate that using all capital letters means you are shouting. If you have text that is in the wrong case, select the text, and then click Shift+F3 until it changes to the case style that you like. Clicking Shift+F3 toggles the text case between ALL CAPS, lower case, and Initial Capital styles.
Use bold or italic typeface for emphasis. Avoid underlining, it clutters up the presentation.
Don't center bulleted lists or text. It is confusing to read. Left align unless you have a good reason not to.
Run "spell check" on your show when finished.

THE BACKGROUND

Keep the background consistent. Simple, light textured backgrounds work well. Complicated textures make the content hard to read.
If you are planning to use many clips in your slides, select a white background. If the venue of your presentation is not adequately light-proof, select a dark-colored background and use any light color for text.
Minimize the use of "bells and whistles" such as sound effects, "flying words" and multiple transitions.
Don't use red in any fonts or backgrounds. It is an emotionally overwhelming color that is difficult to see and read.

THE CLIPS

Animations are best used subtly; too much flash and motion can distract and annoy viewers.
Do not rely too heavily on those images that were originally loaded on your computer with the rest of Office. You can easily find appropriate clips on any topic through Google Images. While searching for images, do not use long search phrases as is usually done while searching the web - use specific words.
When importing pictures, make sure that they are smaller than two megabytes and are in a .jpg format. Larger files can slow down your show.
Keep graphs, charts and diagrams simple, if possible.
Use bar graphs and pie charts instead of tables of data. The audience can then immediately pick up the relationships.

THE PRESENTATION

If you want your presentation to directly open in the slide show view, save it as a slide show file using the following steps.
1. Open the presentation you want to save as a slide show.
2. On the File menu, click Save As.
3. In the Save as type list, click PowerPoint Show. Your slide show file will be saved with a .pps file extension.
When you double-click on this file, it will automatically start your presentation in slide show view. When you're done, PowerPoint automatically closes and you return to the desktop. If you want to edit the slide show file, you can always open it from PowerPoint by clicking Open on the File menu.
Look at the audience, not at the slides, whenever possible.
If using a laser pointer, don't move it too fast. For example, if circling a number on the slide, do it slowly. Never point the laser at the audience.
Black out the screen (use "B" on the keyboard) after the point has been made, to put the focus on you. Press the key again to continue your presentation.
You can use the shortcut command [Ctrl]P to access the Pen tool during a slide show. Click with your mouse and drag to use the Pen tool to draw during your slide show. To erase everything you've drawn, press the E key. To turn off the Pen tool, press [Esc] once.

MISCELLANEOUS

Master Slide Set-Up:
The "master slide" will allow you to make changes that are reflected on every slide in your presentation. You can change fonts, colors, backgrounds, headers, and footers at the "master slide" level.

First, go to the "View" menu.
Pull down the "Master" menu.
Select the "slide master" menu.

You may now make changes at this level that meet your presentation needs.

Preparing the Handout:
In PowerPoint, choose File | Send To | Microsoft Word. In the Send To Microsoft Word dialog box, choose Outline only to create a text-only document, and click on OK. Minor modifications on this document will give you a handout that can be distributed to the audience.

Create visually appealing slides by adhering to these tips, to ensure that the audience is not distracted from the points you have to make.

Most franchisors charge a percentage of the gross income and probably make a little off every service unit you buy, so they want you to expand.

It is your area to develop. It is your business and your area and no one else is allowed in it. Part of your franchise fee is for your exclusive area. The potential growth and profit available in your area is limited only by your own vision.

We, franchisors have designed a business and a system that works very well and you have the rights within that territory to market that business and make money. Or an attorney comes along and tries to get in between the franchise relationship to file a lawsuit for their own personal gains.

Creditors will measure your credit rating based on the following three main things.

Capacity
Collateral
Character

The three "C's" show creditors your:

"Capacity" or income to pay the debt
"Collateral" or assets to secure the obligation
"Character" shows your compliance to repay the debt

1. Capacity

The very first question is whether you have sufficient income to repay the debt. Creditors will definitely check to see if your income exceeds your expenses so that you ca comfortably pay the debt. A creditor will then want to know:

Your income - from all sources
Your fixed expenses
Your other debts

The amount remaining from your total net income, after deducting your fixed monthly expenses and other debts, is your capacity. If your net income is $3,000 a month and your total living expenses is $2,500, then your credit capacity is an amount that requires no more than $500 in monthly payments.

If you now pay $400 a month for other credit obligations, then your remaining capacity is a $100 a month, and a creditor should extend you that amount of credit.

There are three techniques that will allow you to maximize your income:

Increase your income
Decrease your expenses (easier to do than the first one)
Reduce your other debts

2. Collateral

A lender or creditor can be secured or unsecured. Secured lenders hold a lien against specific assets, such as real estate, an automobile, or boat. If you fail to pay, the secured lender can sell the pledged asset to recover debt owed. Secured lenders seldom loan more than the auction value of the collateral.

Secured credit, is an almost guaranteed way to rebuild your credit. Even with poor credit, a lender may advance your credit if you ca secure the credit with a lien against some valuable asset. Many creditors extend credit entirely on the strength of the pledged assets.

Other credit considerations are either ignored or carry comparatively little weight in the credit decision.

What can you use as a collateral to secure your debts and rebuild your credit? You may be appreciably wealthier than you think. Add the value of your various assets (property that you own) and subtract any existing mortgages or lies against those assets. The difference is your equity or net worth in the asset.

This is what you have available to secure a loan. Do not overlook any asset:

Home
Investment real estate
Stocks, bonds, mutual funds,
Automobile
Boats, planes, recreational vehicles
Notes and mortgages due you
Art, jewelry, antiques
Pensions, IRAs, and Keoghs
Royalty income
Income from trusts

You may have other assets to pledge. The point is that collateral gives you a borrowing power approximately equal to your equity in your assets. Regardless of your credit history, if you have collateral worth a solid $100,000, you should be able to borrow close to that amount.

3. Character

Creditors next consider your character. How important this is depends upon the type of credit, and who your creditors are. Asset based lenders rely chiefly on collateral, and they are less concerned with your character than are unsecured creditors who can only rely on your prior reliability for honoring your obligations.

When creditors check your character, they basically look at how you satisfied your past obligations. Meaning they want to know:

How many credit defaults have you had?
What was the reason for the defaults?
How recent are they?
Do you own your own home?
If you rent, for how long have you rented the same apartment or house?
Do you have a checking account?
Do you have a savings account with regular deposits?
Do you have a payroll savings plan at work?
Do you have a telephone in your own name?
Do you have a criminal record?
Have you filed bankruptcy?

Positive answers to these nine questions will often offset an otherwise negative credit report. Basically your credit character boils down to your credit history in the past. In the eyes of creditors, if your past credit character is good, there is no reason to believe why your future won't look promising.

Vitamin C is important to all animals, including humans, because it is vital to the production of collagen. Vitamin C is also important because it helps protect the fat-soluble vitamins A and E as well as fatty acids from oxidation. Vitamin C prevents and cures the disease scurvy, and can be beneficial in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. I have to confess that I knew nothing until I joined my pharmacy, about what collagen was, and why it was so important? Collagen is the most ubiquitous substance in the body because it is the most abundant of the fibers contained in connective tissue. Connective tissue gives our body form and supports our organs. Collagen is everywhere in the body, and vitamin C plays a role in the formation of collagen. So, how is vitamin C involved in collagen synthesis? When collagen is produced, there is a complex series of events, some occurring inside of the cell, and some outside of the cell. Vitamin C acts inside the cell, where it adds hydrogen and oxygen to proline and lysine, the amino acids. This helps form a procollagen that is later modified into collagen outside the cell.

Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits such as oranges, limes, and grapefruit, and vegetables including tomatoes, green pepper, potatoes and many others. Vitamin C is easily damaged during the food preparation stage, such as during chopping, exposure to air, cooking, boiling, and being submerged in water. The amount of Vitamin C is high enough in most foods that the quantity that remains after processing is usually more than enough for a daily supply.

The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin C is 60 to 90 milligrams per day. Individuals who smoke cigarettes are encouraged to consume more mgs of vitamin C than average adults. This is due to the fact that smoking depletes vitamin C levels in the body and is a catalyst for biological processes which damage cells. Intake of antioxidants like vitamin C can prevent or counteract cell damage due to aging and exposure to antioxidants. A high dose of vitamin C at the beginning of a cold has shown only to reduce the severity of the symptoms rather curing or preventing the cold.

It is interesting to note that Vitamin C is used as an inexpensive preservative in many processed foods, making deficiencies even rarer.

Tips for Spotting a Phishing Scam:

Fraudulent emails will contain links to websites that appear to have an address similar to a Bank or its website name. Remember, it is always safer to type in the website address yourself than to click on a link.

It can be very difficult to determine the true identity of a website based upon its address. Cyber-criminals may use programming tricks to make the address that you see appear different than the true address to which you are directed.

Your greatest protection against online fraud is not to fall victim by taking reasonable steps to protect your private information. Visit the Federal Trade Commission's website at www.FTC.gov/idtheft for more information about online security and how to protect yourself from scams.

1. First and foremost, never provide personal information in response to an unsolicited email.

They may have little or no debt when suddenly something happens that takes them deeply into debt. This can be an illness, an engine blowing up in your vehicle, a tree falling on your house or any number of catastrophes.

Knowing this, the first step in getting out of debt is to change your attitude. You must decide that you will no longer accept living in debt and unprepared for life's uncertainties.

You must decide that whatever it takes, you will do it. Without this intensity it will be difficult for you to succeed. Without this intensity new cars and the shiny advertisements will draw you back into debt.

Remember, the first step to staying debt free must be an attitude change.

Did you know that your back cover information is, after the cover, the best way to sell more books? And, that most authors, emerging and experienced, miss this opportunity to engage more potential buyers?

Your book's front cover and sizzling title must impress your buyers in four-eight seconds. If they like it, they will spend ten or so seconds on your back cover-a great opportunity to convince them that your book is necessary for their success.

Does your back cover pass the test?

Best Solutions to the Biggest Mistakes

1. Mistake: Too many non-powerful words and too busy to have a focus.

Solutions: A back cover of 6 by 9 inches should have fewer than 70 words. Use sound bites; picture and emotional words; benefits, not features; and testimonials to capture your readers' attention to keep your message focused. Make every word count and be willing to get five-fifteen edits.

2. Mistake: Too much superfluous material on it such a long author's bio or large photo. Potential buyers want to know how the book will help them, teach them a skill, or entertain them.

Solutions: Print only a one or two-line bio on the back cover. Put your photo and more bio on the inside of the back cover. Omit features such as format information, which belong in the mini sales letter short introduction.

Connect with your buyer emotionally with specific, powerful ad copy. For self-help books use bullets with specific benefits, and enough of the right kind of testimonials to sell your book in under 15 seconds. For fiction, modify to include a startling scene with snappy including a bit of plot, and maybe a powerful quote. Use bookstore models to assist you.

3. Mistake: Repeating the book's title at the top of the back cover.

Solutions: Since your potential buyers already know the title and are stimulated enough to look at the back cover, hook them with an emotional question or headline that gives them the #one benefit of your book.

Create a "Hot Headline" that compels your reader to buy. Notice the headlines in your newspaper. Visit your bookstore and notice other best selling authors' headlines. "What's So Tough About Writing?" by wordsmith Richard Lederer, author of The Write Way; "Imagine Being an Author," in Dan Poynter's Writing Nonfiction; or "To Age is Natural...To Grow Old is Not! In Rico Caveglia's Ageless Living.

4. Mistake: Omitting testimonials.

Solutions: Testimonials sell more books than any other information on the back cover. Put at least three up. Contact a variety of people. Use one from a top professional in your field, one from a satisfied reader, one from a celebrity who cares about your topic, and one from a top media person. These can be local contacts.

In her book, A Kick in Your Inspiration, Ruth Cleveland got one testimonial from an ex convict! Jacqueline Marcell, author of Elder Rage, took eight months to get forty testimonials from celebrities. Her book is endorsed by: Steve Allen, Ed Asner, Dr. Dean Edell, Dr. John Gray, Dr. Nancy Snyderman/ABC, Regis Philbin. Jacqueline Bisset, and Phyllis Diller.

Worth the effort? Yes, because in April 2001, she made the cover of the AARP Bulletin distributed to over 35 million readers. It included a feature story, some how-tos and contacts and pictures of the author and her book. She had to dance fast, and order 10,000 books to get distributed by the time the piece came out. After it came out, she was inundated with speaking engagements. There's a problem you might love to have!

After you write several books and become rich and famous, you, like other professionals, will fill your back cover with testimonials. You won't even need to add benefits, because people have already bought your other books and liked them.

Potential buyers will purchase when they see people they trust and know recommend the book. Besides filling the back cover with testimonials, you may want to even add extra testimonials in the front pages of the book. The more testimonials, the better!

5. Mistake. Independent publishers submitting galleys to reviewers, distributors, and wholesales without ANY back cover information.

Solutions: "Make the back cover your first area of concern," says Susan Howard, Director of Consulting Services at top publishing firm, The Jenkins Group Inc., who write "The Publishing Connection" She adds, "Waiting for testimonials is generally the reason the back cover of a galley is left blank. Failure to realize the value of the back cover seems to equate with the failure to realize that the text for the finished back cover can always be changed before the printing of the book."

It's important for writers to "market while they write" with the "Essential Hot-Selling Points"-- To make each part of their book sell copies. The book's back cover is all-important.

Every fitness facility should have a well thought out and practiced emergency plan in place. Emergencies happen without warning, no two are ever alike and waiting until they happen leaves you and your facility open to liability.

For the past 5 plus years I have been a Paramedic in a busy urban EMS system. I have responded to calls in numerous fitness facilities and other public buildings and schools. The general rule of thumb is to first panic, regroup and panic again. This is where a clear and practiced emergency plan is paramount.

The average person that is not aware of how 911 works actually makes our job much more confusing. Your plan should include a designated person to make the 911 call. This should be a clear and early step in the emergency plan. Do not rush to give the 911 dispatcher info, they will gather it from you in an orderly fashion. Please realize that as the dispatcher is talking to you another dispatcher is sending an ambulance, this is a well coordinated process. Designate a person to meet and or wave in the ambulance, understand that in most areas first responders will precede the ambulance, both need to be waved in to the best location to access the patient.

Emergency cards for each member or client in your facility should be available to give the EMS crew. If the patient is unconscious or unable to talk a simple form with name, address, phone numbers, medical problems, allergies to medications and preferred hospital help expedite care and transport times.

Thankfully almost all Personal fitness certifications and facilities require CPR certification and most facilities now have automatic external defibrillators (AED), this is excellent but the majority of emergencies do not require CPR. Hypoglycemia, seizures, dehydration, medication and supplementation errors, minor traumas, and respiratory issues are more common and often more difficult to deal with.

When the EMT's arrive we only need a few pieces of vital information. What happened, how did it happen, did they loose consciousness, did they fall and or hit their head. Has this ever happened before, any past medical history (this should be on the emergency card). A big question I often get is what are the Paramedics going to do?. If it is a true emergency, and by this I mean cardiac / respitory arrest or unconsciousness, we are most likely going to treat the problem on the spot to stabilize the patient and then initiate rapid transport to an appropriate medical facility. If the cause of the problem is less clear we may find a quiet corner, if the patient can be moved, and do a full work up.

This may include a 12 lead diagnostic ekg, blood sugar, blood pressure etc.

The bottom line is the trainer or manager is never wrong to access 911. I would much rather show up and evaluate the patient, and decide that no further medical intervention is needed than be called after it is too late. All facilities should have a few employees that are also first aid and or first responder certified. This will allow that employee enough training to help a member or patient who is suffering from a medical emergency.

Some of the scariest and most frustrating 911 calls are where bystanders who thought they were helping actually complicated the situation. �€� Seizures: never place anything in the mouth, turn them onto their side, do not try and hold them down, try only to prevent further injury by moving objects from around them. At best place a towel under the head to protect the head and neck.

�€� Fainting aka. Near syncope: The causes of this can number in the hundreds.

Low blood pressure, blood sugar, over heated, cardiac abnormalities, asthma, drugs/supplements to name a few of the common ones. Place the person on their side only if there is no chance of spinal injury, if you suspect injury leave them as they are. If they are alert (near syncope) and they did not eat try an energy drink but only if they are alert.

�€� Chest Pain: The causes can be numerous but a good thing to keep in mind is time is muscle. If the pain is cardiac in origin the longer the patient waits to call 911 the more heart muscle that dies.

�€� Stroke: Same as chest pain, time is brain tissue.

�€� Trauma: This encompasses minor sprains and strains up to falls and fractures. No need to run and call 911 for a sprained ankle, use your judgment for when it is necessary to call 911. One thing to keep in mind, many people have a medical event, fall and now they have a trauma, always be suspicious.

�€� Chemical Exposure: Does your club have a pool, where are the chemicals, how do treat an exposure, can you set in motion an evacuation plan.

Plan ahead, have the right people in place, practice your plan and never panic.

You probably avoid a few processes whose names mean nothing to you, but they're essential to Windows. svchost.exe sure likes to appear all the time and multiple times at that. What's taskmgr.exe? Oh yeah, it's the window you're looking at right now. ctfmon? Is he related to Pokemon? navapsvc.exe? Navy? Napa Valley? Navel? NOTA (none of the above).

This is not a comprehensive list as that would take days. It has the standard processes as well as process names from popular applications. If you want to know about a process, the best place to go is... ProcessLibrary.com. Just like adware and spyware, there are bad processes that come to life thanks to the bad guys like Trojans and viruses. The site has a list of the top five security threats, so watch out for those processes.

Also, beware the bad guys like to use legitimate names of processes. For example, rundll.exe is a system process that should not be terminated. However, recent reports have stated, "It can also be the LOXOSCAM virus depending on Operating System and file path; this is always a virus on Windows XP and 2000 operating systems however."

You can download software that provide more information about the process. Task Manager, as you know, says nothing except the name of the process and how much CPU it's using. One example is Process Explorer, a standalone application that also has the option of replacing the built in Task Manager for windows. RealNetworks Scheduler is not an essential process. It checks for updates for RealNetworks products. It can be safely disabled.

rundll32.exe
A system process that executes DLLs and loads their libraries.

savscan.exe
Nortons AntiVirus process. Keep it.

services.exe
An essential process that manages the starting and stopping of services including the those in boot up and shut down. Do not terminate it.

smss.exe
Session Manager SubSystem is a system process that is a central part of the Windows operating system. If you try to kill it, it will be difficult... hence, the importance of leaving it be.

spoolsv.exe
Microsoft printer spooler service handles local printer processes. It's a system file.

svchost.exe x 6
You may have more than six appearances of this process or less. It's there multiple times to handle processes executed from DLLs. Leave it there.

System
This is a file that stores information related to local hardware settings in the registry under &HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE'. Kill it and kiss your PC's stability bye bye.

System Idele Process
Calculates the amount of CPU currently in use by applications. This won't go away no matter how hard you try. Don't try it, OK?

Don't panic if you see something you have on the "bad guy" list. svchost.exe is important, but some are good guys and some are bad guys. Do your research before deleting anything. For instance, I have admin.exe, which has been reported as a bad guy. However, it is the admin process for one of my programs. When I closed the program, admin.exe also went away.

Why We Have Problems? A Coach Debates. Metaphorically Selling.

As a coach, I often ask myself the question why human beings have problems. With the exception of terminal diseases,

serious illnesses that are REALLY life-threatening situations and serious stuff, we do have problems for a number of reasons I will present below. But first of all, allow me, I will have to replace the word problem by "challenge" or "barrier" as used in the coaching jargon. Problems do not exist in the coaching world! However, changing the word, does not change the concept so a challenge, barrier or problem is pretty much the same thing.

Here are the four main reasons we have problems - illness excluded:

1. Unclear intentions and objectives.

In other words, confusion in our head that shows in our daily life. When we are not clear about our objectives in life, career or business, our thoughts are scattered rather than solid. Scattered thoughts do not lead to significant action taking but to stillness or mess. Example: you want to quit your job because you want to start a business. At the same time you want to take a gap year to travel the world and you also want to make more money and possibly to write a book and to loose weight. Great!

What actions will you take if you are in a similar situation as the one described above? There is so much in the mind that it is difficult to take any action. Or you will work simultaneously on so many and possibly conflicting projects and you won't get the desired results.

Solution: Clarify your intentions. Be clear of what you want to create in your life by, first, asking your heart. What do you truly desire? An intention is something that gives you joy, enhances your creativity and also brings cash (if it is work related intention) but contributes to society at the same time. An intention is bigger than you. Pick one at the time. Focus on it, develop it, work on it. Then move to the next one. If you don't know how to go about choosing the number one intention, use the "commitment scale" exercise. Example: I want to take a gap year to travel the world. Fine. What is your level of commitment on a scale from 1 to 10? Anything less than 6 is out of your list. You will be surprised that you actually do not have so many intentions after all!

2. Lack of reserves in all areas.

What is a reserve? "Having enough of" the dictionary defines. Scarcity has always been one of the major issues in humans. When there is not enough of, there is scarcity and as a consequence frustration. Worry and stress. Problems! What are the main areas we need to build and maintain reserves in order to be satisfied? Here are my suggestions:

  Money Food Heat Time Space Love Resources Energy Opportunity

Obviously, there are many different other areas we can build reserves as well (friends, enthusiasm etc). We can all find out our weakest areas and then work on them.

Solution: Start building reserves in all areas. From reserves of bread to reserves of love, you need them all to find happiness. Or stop worrying. Fear will disappear, you won't have to struggle, everything will be in place and you will enjoy life more. You will have more time and more space. Things will start coming to you effortlessly and you will become attractive. Building reserves is one of the first steps of attraction

3. Resisting the present.

Resisting the present means that humans beings do not like to be in the present. For a mysterious and unexplainable reason, most of us spend more time in the past or look forward into the future. It's an unconscious or conscious choice but in either case, creates frustration and often overwhelm. If you don't want to be in the present, you are not grounded, you are not "here" but somewhere else. If you decided to be in the past, you spend most of your time thinking of what has happened and how difficult or easy your life has been so far. Old wounds, faces and emotions come up from the old days and you are just living in the past-world. If you have, however, decided to be in the future, you spend most of your time organizing your future plans and goals. Thinking of what is next for you. Future goals and plans are on the top of the agenda. The "what is next" question might create excitement, but it creates the "need" of a better future.

Solution: Recognize perfection in the present. It might not be ideal or desired but the present is a wonderful place to be. Being in the present, it's a learning experience. When you can see perfection in the present, even in a very difficult situation, you are probably oriented to improve or resolve it.

And don't forget, life happens when you make plans.

4. We want things to happen now, ASAP. Even if we don't exactly know what they are.

Does it mean that we are not patient? Yes. Does it mean that we can't wait? Yes. It also means that we can't see that there is a need for preparation for everything we want to have, develop or create. Things do not happen when we want them, but when we are ready. I remember one of my first clients wanted to get a job in London and relocate from France. When she made the decision, she had one year left before her graduation from University, as a mature student. She did not have a degree as yet. Despite her effort and job applications for London jobs, she couldn't get one. She got a job, somewhere else, a year after. It was then when she was prepared and ready.

Solution: Don't rush. The Universe has its own time. The Universe is ready when you are.

Since selling is an everyday occurrence, you must learn to accept that your udience has heard the very same pitch that you prepared countless times before. How then do you force a jaded audience to loosen their guard and listen to you?

First, you must learn to talk from your audience's point of view. Get your listeners to understand what it is you're selling by picking the right words. Speak their language and use words that they can relate to. Remember, you are not selling your product to yourself.

Second, don't bombard your audience with too much information. Keep in mind that you are only given a short time to make a sales pitch. It would be a fatal mistake to overwhelm your audience with too many facts and figures.

Lastly, to do justice to your product without boring your audience, it would be most helpful and advantageous to use visual words. Arming your presentation with visual words enable you to explain fully what your product is about without spoiling your audience's zeal.

What are Metaphors?

When you were a student, you were taught that a metaphor is a figure of speech. Your professor may have failed to tell you however; just how important a metaphor is when it comes to selling.

A metaphor is a way to communicate your message to any given audience in an

instant. You do this by using words that compare one thing to another. The brilliance of a metaphor is that you can easily come up with comparisons that are familiar to your audience. You can use metaphors that your audience can strongly associate with.

The best way to explain this further is to tell you what not to do. If you are speaking before a group of female activists, it is never a good idea to use metaphors extolling the triumph of men in sports.

When Do You Need Metaphors?

Without question, a metaphor is a powerful tool. In fact, metaphors will help you close a sale no matter what kind of audience you are interacting with. While you may not need to use metaphors all the time, be keen and alert when one is needed. You know you have to start firing a metaphor the moment your audience starts showing hostility. . .

Joe Johnson Trade Outlook. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Stock Market.

The trade of Joe Johnson for Boris Diaw and 2 first round picks was recently concluded by the Hawks and Suns, after being initially held up. Steve Belkin, a member of the Hawks ownership group, did not want to make the trade, and attempted to stop it. However, the other owners wanted the trade and pushed Belkin out of his ownership role in order to get it done. Despite this, Belkin's reservations about the trade may have been justified. Don't get me wrong, once the Hawks let word get out about this trade, they had to make it if they wanted to retain any fans at all. You don't often find a good, young player willing to relocate to possibly the worst franchise in all of basketball. However, I said good, not great.

Joe Johnson averaged 5 rebounds, 3 �½ assists and 17 points per game last year. The year before, he averaged 5 rebounds, 4 �½ assists, and 17 points. These numbers look awfully similar, except for the assists, which went down because of Nash. Is it possible that Joe Johnson has already reached his peak? The Hawks are paying him 70 million dollars over 5 years, or 14 million per year. That's not the type of money you give a guy who averages 17 points,4 assists, and 5 boards. Richard Hamilton averaged better numbers than that with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, and he only makes 9 million dollars per season.

So the Hawks are clearly paying Johnson in the expectation that he is going to get better. This does not seem like an unfair expectation because he is only 24 years old, and if he were a player whose numbers went up in every season, the Hawks would be justified in believing it. But, his numbers only went up once; from the 2002 to 2003 season. Coincidentally, this was the season in which his playing time went up from 27.5 minutes per games to 40 minutes per game. During the 2002 season, he averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 �½ assists per game. In the 2003 season, he averaged 5 rebounds, 4 �½ assists, and 17 points per game. However, when you adjust his numbers from the 2002 season to averages per 40 minutes, you can say he averaged 14 points, 4 �½ rebounds, and 4 assists. Contrast this to his 2003 season stats, a season in which he played 40 minutes per game, and you see almost no improvement. So although his stats jumped, it was due to a playing time increase, not due to his skills improving.

So basically what the Hawks have now is a man who, while young, has never shown any improvement in his entire pro career. This means that he may not get any better. He is a good player now, but he will be vastly overpaid if he does not get any better. You also have to look at the mindset of a person who would want to be traded from the Suns, which are a good team where he is the fourth fiddle, to the Hawks, which are a bad team, but one on which he is the top guy. I know he had issues with management in Phoenix over his contract status, but he could have been traded to another team. Plenty of teams would have jumped at the chance to add him. The fact that he chose the Hawks may mean he is an underachiever who simply wants to make his money and coast along, never doing anything special. This could be bad for the Hawks in the long run, as they have a young core who could be influenced by Johnson, and his contract could become a weight on their salary cap.

Although I have been saying Johnson is overpaid and an underachiever this whole article, he does have good qualities. He is a big swingman who can play both guard spots and the small forward spot. He would be an immediate upgrade for the Hawks at the point guard spot where Tyronn Lue was decent, but not good, last year. He would also give the franchise hope, which is more than the Hawks have had for a while. They seem to be in constant rebuilding mode, but Johnson could give them a piece to build around. However, all this is contingent on Johnson's improvement. If Johnson can get better, this trade will look good for the Hawks. If he doesn't, the Hawks will end up regretting this deal, as they have with so many other signings.

In order to get Johnson, the Hawks gave up Boris Diaw and 2 lottery picks.

Boris Diaw will be a decent backup for the Suns, who have little depth with Kurt Thomas and Jim Jackson/Raja Bell in the starting lineup. He will let the starters get a little bit of rest, something they didn't have much of last year. Remember, he was a first round pick 2 years ago, so he could be a good player. The trade also includes 2 first round draft picks, which the Hawks, as a rebuilding team, should never have given up. The Suns lost a top playmaker on their team, and didn't really get anything immediate in return. Diaw will give them depth, but they want to win now, and thus the picks are puzzling. However, the second Joe Johnson said he was disgruntled in Phoenix, he forced Phoenix's hand, and they had to move him, even if draft picks and a backup piece were all they could get.

The Hawks got Johnson for less than market value, but they are paying him more than market value. This trade leaves the Hawks improved, but the franchise's future, at least for the next 5 years, is tied to Joe Johnson. If he gets better, the team gets better. If he doesn't, well then the Hawks will still be the Hawks. Giving up the picks has made it clear that the Hawks intend to win with the core they have now, which is a dicey proposition. I see the Hawks as a 30 win team next year, which is a considerable improvement. As for the Suns, giving up Johnson has left a hole in their lineup. If they can get Michael Finley to fill it, there will be almost no drop-off, and they will be on pace to do as well as last year. If they don't land Finley, they will have to turn to Raja Bell or Jim Jackson, who are considerably less talented, at least at the offensive end, than Johnson. In this scenario, the Suns would make the playoffs, but with a low seed. This is a trade that had to be made; the Suns had to get rid of a disgruntled potential troublemaker, and the Hawks had to add a young talent who wanted to play in Atlanta.

Secrets of Flower Pressing

I was reading "A Modern Infant Armada", a humor column in Maclean's Magazine written by a fellow humor columnist. Writing about it now is a bit like a painter painting another painter or a singer singing about another singer (but it not like a cook cooking another cook.).

David Russell (yes, another humor columnist named David)laughs at his neighbor for parking both cars in the driveway to make room in the garage for four strollers for just one child. I laughed with him. Four strollers for just one baby is ridiculous, right?

However, David Russell becomes a parent himself, a condition that afflicts many unsuspecting homo sapiens, and he concludes that a call to his neighbor is warranted: "I need to see if he can help me get a fleet rate."

"Traitor!" I cried out. "Stroller monger!"

"Who's a traitor?" my wife asked as she walked in the room. "And just what is a stroller monger."

I resisted the obvious answer - that a stroller monger is somebody who mongs strollers. "David Russell. He says that one stroller is enough for any child, but then he decides to buy an entire fleet."

"Say, we could have saved a bundle if we had applied for a fleet rate," my wife mused.

"What? We don't have four strollers."

My wife smiled. It was a sweet smile you could just fall in love with...if you did not know that it meant, "Oh yes we do!"

"We do not."

"My wife took out her counting fingers. "First there is the car seat," she said, pressing down the first finger. "We snap it into the stroller base whenever we go anywhere."

"OK, that's one."

"Then there is the SUV," she said, pressing down on a second finger. The "SUV" is a full sized stroller. We bought it when we were still squeezing it on a downtown apartment. With no storage space, it stood in the entrance area, blocking our path to the kitchen and any hope of escaping if the place caught fire. The SUV is the Hummer of strollers.

"OK, that is a stroller, I will grant you. But that's just two."

"We also have the fold-up stroller," my wife said, pressing down a third finger.

"But she's not even using it yet."

"She will soon and we have it now," my wife pointed out. "Then there is the old fold-up stroller we kept as a backup. That makes four."

"You can't count duplicates. That's double counting."

"It takes double the space," my wife insisted. "We have four strollers.

I stared in silence. Slowly it sunk in. Yes, there were two Davids who were humor columnists, but there were also two Davids who were stroller-mongers.

Uh-oh. My wife was smiling again. She was watched for just the right moment to strike. "Our baby has more seats in this house than anybody else has."

"That's ridiculous." No sooner had the words left my mouth than I remembered the boomerang rule. Words like ridiculous, ludicrous, silly, stupid and big mouth usually apply only to the person who speaks them.

My wife rhymed off our seats, "Three on the couch, two chairs in the living room, six in the kitchen, one in the bathroom and one at each of our desks. Plus the three red chairs Little Lady has in the living room. That makes 17."

"Ha!" I knew it couldn't be true.

Then came that deadly sweet smile again, the smile that said, "Take my hand while I lead you around the house to see why you should think first and shout 'Aha!' later."

In the kitchen stood the high chair and the sit-in play saucer. In her office sat the rocking chair that never rocked and the bouncy chair that never bounced. There was the swing seat, and there were two cushion seats for sitting upright on the floor. She opened the door to the enclosed porch, and there were the four strollers and the car seat she would soon be using.

"That makes 12," my wife tallied. "We each have fewer than six."

I thought really hard. "Aha!" I said again, proudly pointing out that this time I had thought first and shouted 'Aha!' later.. "We have three chairs on the balcony, and six on the patio. There are also six folding chairs for the fire pit."

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and there was no reason to forget all the outdoors furniture at a time like this. Unfortunately, there was no reason to forget arithmetic, either. Our baby still had the most seats in the house - and outside the house, too.

"Uh, do toilet seats count?"

My wife smiled her sweet smile again, a smile that could only mean, "So, stroller monger, what do you have to say for yourself now?"

I knew that another humor columnist named David had just been labeled a traitor. Meekly, I mumbled. "Lawn tractor seat?"
